The former vice chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba among other dismissed staff of the university on Tuesday 23rd July 2019 broke into the chamber of the university and caused mayhem to reinstate themselves as board members of the institution.

According to Prof. Avoke, their actions were triggered by the judgment of Cape Coast High Court and the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) after they had concluded that the former vice chancellor’s office was not involved in any procurement breaches.
The professor and the five other dismissed staff members held a press conference to make their point clear.
This came after a senior member of the UEW staff Kingsley Amoakwah on Monday 22nd July sued the university and its vice chancellor Rev. Afful-Broni seeking an order to holding him from performing any further functions in the capacity of a vice chancellor for the institution.
Rev. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni was inducted into office as the 4th Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba legally. He was before his appointment the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
This leadership brouhaha has caused the students of the 2018/2019 academic year on the Winneba, Kumasi and Ashanti Region campuses have their graduation ceremony postponed indefinitely due to the absence of a school Governing Council.
Will this court ruling keep the graduation ceremony still postponed or Prof. Afful will proceed with the graduation ceremony as the legal Vice Chancellor of the University?
